Starting Your Journey

People ask me all the time “Louis, I want to get into bourbon, where do I start?” It’s funny when I get asked that question. I’ve only been drinking bourbon since 2018.

I think I’m still new to the game and have a lot to learn. There’s still so many bottles out there I haven’t been able to try yet. It’s hard to give ideas to people because everyone’s palate is different. What I may like you necessarily may not, ya know?

I always say if you’re looking to start your journey. You’ll need to start with a lower proof. I usually would recommend Buffalo Trace or if you want to venture to a higher proof and see, I’d recommend Old Forrester 100 proof. To me these have the perfect flavors and not enough bite to scare you. Plus, they are a perfect budget buy. If you’re looking to start, I’d say to start with these. It’s like that old saying I once heard.
