The Glendronach Kingsman! Inspired by the oldest bottle at the distillery, a 29 year old whisky bottled in 1913 just before WWI. 3 friends each purchased a bottle and vowed to open them together when they returned. Sadly, only one returned home. The family of the soldier gifted the bottle to the distillery and the bottle still remains unopened and displayed to honor of the fallen friends. Enjoy the review below!
Glendronach Kingsman 1989 29 Year Old Bottle Number 161/3052
.
Nose: an intoxicating aroma of dark fruits and chocolate bitters, backed up by a pinch of rosemary and an amazing waft of old leather jacket worn by a cigar smoker.
.
Palate: wow the texture and oils; super viscous! Tastes like a really great chocolate tart topped with black truffles and candied raisins while eating outside with the scent of damp autumn leaves in the crisp air. Super delicious!
.
Finish: an eternity! Fine aged Cuban tobacco and a brown sugar cube placed in an espresso and a plate of sweet blackberries....so much drool!
I closed my eyes after reading this and could visualize every morsel.
