Does this bottle weight 30 pounds or 3 pounds? Is it a 6 Liter or 750ml? 🤔 Read on...
This is the equation on price to quality ratio as well. For a bottle that is supposed to be $79.99 MSRP, you see it going for $799+. I understand supply and demand but this is simply outrageous! There are many bottles out there for $100 or less that are equal to or better than this. Do you agree or disagree? 🤔
In my humble opinion, If something is really good, I can pay double if needed, if it’s really really good and very very limited, charge me triple. But to charge me more than 10X of what the MSRP is Ridiculous to say the least! Again I understand supply demand, and don’t blame the retailers for it but refuse to help support it by purchasing or recommending it to anyone. There are many other great products that are better than this for 10x less.
I want to know your thoughts on this, and if you have tried something for $100 or less that you feel is equal to or better than the Van Winkle 12yo Lot B, please let us know in the comments below. Based on this question, I received several responses on my Instagram, below is a list of what people think is much better in price to quality ratio:
Michters Single Barrel
Michters Barrel Proof Rye
Stagg Jr
Russels Reserve Cask Strength
Weller 107
Weller CYPB
Henry McKenna
Noah’s Mill
Any Weller
George Dickel Sour Mash
Woodford Reserve
Angels Envy
Heaven Hill
Orphan Barrel
Four Roses Picks
Bookers
Makers Mark Cask Strength
YellowStone
You can purchase 5-6 bottles of above instead of 1 bottle of Van Winkle, the choice is yours!
Good Morning,
I’ll have to agree there’s so many other bottles that are worthy. I’m a ORVW and Pappy 15 year fan, but I’ll never pay those prices. In my opinion, all the Pappy collections are only worth retail to me. I would pick so many from your list before I purchased that very bottle.
I agree. I don't even acknowledge the Pappy's as a legitimate buy. In my mind, anyone who pays such hugely inflated prices for any whiskey, doesn't really KNOW whiskey. All of the Pappy's are over-hyped and, as you noted, superceded by a huge list of much better alternatives. In the case of Pappy, it literally pays to 'choose your whiskey wisely' as I always say!
