Talisker: Dark Storm

A very unique whisky from the Isle of Skye, mainly packaged for the travel retail market, this whisky is much more intense than the very familiar 10-year-old and the Talisker Storm. This is mainly due to its maturing that’s carried out in heavily charred casks which give it a darker color and an extra spice and smoke to it.

On the nose it comes as a deep but gentle dram, one can note the charred wood, molasses, and of course the smokiness which gives this whisky its unique character.

A sip of this liquid immediately reminds me of the one thing that Talisker is known to have, the Sea. The slight saltiness in this whisky along with the balance of the smoky caramel sweetness and the intense charred oak flavor makes it one of those whiskies that can be sipped all day long.

For a whisky this complex, the finish is equally impressive, the smoothness on this scotch is phenomenal, there is a reason why I said earlier that one can sip on this beauty all day long, the spicy aftertaste is followed by a smooth oaky sweetness that will take us to the stormy seas and at the same time remind us that the sea can be as paradisiacal as it can be violent.

A quick suggestion from me, whenever you see this bottle, BUY IT!!!

Cheers!!!
